The SDRC is delighted to announce the addition of a new and valued member to the Team.Tarah-Jade Sly, the SDRC’s new Child and Youth Counsellor, is a graduate of the Algonquin College Child and Youth Worker Program.Tarah-Jade brings experience in the areas of Residential Treatment for children and youth, as well as mental health and youth justice, to the SDRC. She is currently developing innovative programs for children and youth who have been involved in Separation or Divorce.
“Having worked in a residential setting, I have been given the opportunity to counsel youth through their toughest moments.I am honoured to be a part of every client’s journey,” says Sly.Tarah-Jade strongly believes that building a positive relationship with her clients is essential for the development of trust and collaboration.The children and youth who work with Tarah-Jade have a voice; they are encouraged to set goals, are free to make choices and are empowered throughout their counselling journey.“Working with them towards a common goal is the approach that I believe works best for the purpose of esteem-building.”
Having come from a divorce background, Tarah-Jade possesses insight into her clients’ issues, and a profound understanding of them.She believes, however, that everyone’s experiences are unique.Her targeted and personalized child/youth programs and services meet a crucial need.“Often, children and youth get lost in the shuffle--the legalities and conflicts that occur during and following a separation or divorce--and I am committed to providing my clients with the emotional support they require.”
